The antispasmodic pills did most of the trick, but not all. So a colonoscopy is slated for this Thursday. I must admit I’m worried about it. For some reason it seems like a bigger deal than the endoscopy. Why, I don’t know. Yesterday, just as I woke up, I had a panic attack about it. I’m glad I’ll be done with it in the next few days.
Met with the GI this morning. It was very informative with many more possibilities than I thought.
He does want to do an endoscopy. It’s scheduled for day after tomorrow. He’ll be looking for the following: ulcer, stomach cancer (not likely, but possible), and/or metastatic prostate cancer (very unlikely). If he does find something, he’ll take a sample, and we’ll find out what it is in 4-5 days.
He said it’s possible my stomach is actually OK and that the problem is in the colon. So if the endoscopy is negative, I get a colonoscopy. We didn’t get into detail about what he’d be looking for.
It’s also possible that the colonoscopy could be negative. If that’s the case, the diagnosis will be spasming muscles caused by stress and anxiety. The treatment for that is simple muscle relaxants. No idea how long I’d have to take them.
