It’s been almost exactly one week since my heart attack. I’ve been surprised by the whole thing.
My father’s side of the family has a history of heart disease. I expected to have a heart attack sometime, but I thought it would kill me. Instead it was relatively pain free, I didn’t have the “elephant on my chest” feeling at all. I had pain radiating down from my armpits to elbows, aching teeth/jaw, and I threw up. Once the slightest chest pain started, I went to the ER. My pain never went above a 6 on a scale of 1-10.
That the whole thing would be so pain free and resolved so quickly blew me away. Within two hours of it first starting it was essentially over. The most painful thing in the whole process was the lidocaine injection in my leg. It burned a lot for a few seconds.
I’m now OK and I realize, thanks to my brother-in-law, that you are the one I need to worry about. My plumbing is being attended to and I have a very good prognosis. Your plumbing is another matter.
Any hopes I had, during my most depressed times, of dying of a heart attack are dashed. I guess I’ll have to switch to hoping for a brain aneurism.
For about 4-5 days I didn’t have cancer. This heart stuff was at the forefront, and the prognosis was very good. It was wonderful.
The sixth day was tough; that was when the reality of my cancer returned. Now I’m used to it again. I can now be quite confident that cancer will kill me before heart disease. Next week I get blood work and we decide on the next course of cancer treatment.
Stay tuned.
